WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -- - An investigation is underway in a West Palm Beach neighborhood after police said a man was shot and killed in broad daylight.
Police arrived on scene near the 1400 block of 9th Street around 10:30 a.m.
Investigators said they found a man in his 20s under a tree of a residence with several gunshot wounds.
When paramedics arrived, they told investigators there was nothing they could do to revive the man.
Dozens of nearby residents gathered near the crime scene as police spent hours investigating.
At times, emotions ran high. Multiple people were brought to their knees crying and several fights even broke out.
"It's somebody's child, that's why I feel what they're going through. They have to be mad. It's just another black child, another young, black child gone. It just don't make sense," said Lilly Manning, who lives down the street from the shooting.
West Palm Beach Police said they do have several leads they are tracking and believe whoever pulled the trigger acted alone.
The identity of the man shot and killed has not been released.
