After the victim's mother arrived home to call the police, Bodden was discovered sleeping on a sofa, according to the police report.
Police questioned Bodden, who admitted to hitting the man after he broke into a shed, the report said.
The man - whose name is withheld in the report - suffered severe bleeding to the head and needed emergency surgery to relieve the bleeding.
The man's mother, whose name is also withheld, later notified officers that Bodden was growing marijuana in the backyard behind an old mini van.
