WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - Clem Beauchamp, a suspect in the deaths of two children and their mother, appeared in court Wednesday on unrelated federal charges.
Beauchamp represented himself. He said between himself and his sister he only has a house, and no money for an attorney.
Because he has equity in the home the judge said she could not appoint a public defender and told Beauchamp to hire an attorney.
The prosecution said it was concerned that if bond was set, Beauchamp could become a flight risk since he is a suspect in three murders.
Beauchamp said he was not a danger to the community, but the judge denied him bond.
