WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - We've all seen the half-off gift certificates you can purchase online for your favorite restaurant, but now their is a new website putting a spin on things.
It's called "Charity Dine" and the goal is to save consumers money and help local organizations like the Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League in West Palm Beach.
"We are so excited about this," said a shelter spokesperson
It is just one of many organizations in the area that will be getting a helping hand thanks to the new site.
Here's how it works.
"Customers log-on, they buy a gift certificate to their favorite restaurant for half-off and when they check out they select their favorite charity and 25 percent of the purchase goes directly to that charity," explains Charity Dine Spokesperson Eileen Pike.
Several restaurants including Field of Greens and B B King's have already signed on.
"There's no cost to the charities, no costs to the consumers and no cost to the restaurants to sign up," adds Pike.
The official launch of the site will be at the end of September. For now you can still log on and see what will be available and sign up to receive and email to be notified when things are ready to go.
