Natalie Heil accused of renting a home she didn't own and pocketing more than $13,000, police say

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - A West Palm Beach woman is facing charges for renting a home she didn't own and pocketing more than $13,000, according to police.

Natalie Heil is facing charges of grand theft and organized scheme to defraud.

According to a police affidavit, two women were paying $1,500 dollars rent to Heil after answering an ad on craigslist.com.

The home, on Vallette Way, was in foreclosure and had been vacant since 2011.

When the owner's daughter-in-law decided to check on the property she found the two women living in it. She was surprised to find that they had a signed lease.

Police say they later learned that Heil was trying to meet with one of the tenants to pick up a rent check. At that point they took Heil into custody.

According to the affidavit, Heil said she went to the Palm Beach County courthouse and obtained possession of the residence after completing the necessary paperwork.

Police say the Palm Beach County Property Appraiser's website lists another person as the owner.
