WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -- - A doctor's office in West Palm Beach abruptly closed doors at the beginning of the year, leaving patients in the dark and their personal medical records in limbo.
Sandy Brown was a patient at the offices of Dr. Frank Rodriguez, an OBGYN. She cannot get a hold of her Rodriguez and has spent weeks trying to figure out where to find her medical records.
"I'm hoping they'll give me an answer," said Brown as she drove to the office.
Brown traveled back to her doctor's office on Friday, hoping to find more than 45 years worth of her medical history. she said Dr. Rodriguez shuttered his office without notice and without a place to find her records.
When Brown visited the leasing office, managers did not know where her records were or how to get in touch with Dr. Rodriguez.
"I think that just the fact that knowing they're out there, somewhere is scary. Identification theft. That really scares me," said Brown.
WPTV NewsChannel 5 tried calling Dr. Rodriguez and visiting his listed address. A guard said he was not home.
The Palm Beach County Medical Society said it has been getting phone calls about Dr. Rodriguez and are forwarding patients to the state department of health because no one knows the location of the doctor.
The Florida Department of Health told WPTV NewsChannel 5 patients need to fill out a complaint form and send it to the state office.
Brown said she has done that and is waiting for the state to respond.
WPTV NewsChannel 5 checked into the state database and found that the license of Dr. Rodriguez is current.
No complaints were found in the business profile either.
