WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) -- A Miami man has been sentenced to life in prison for his part in a fatal armed robbery.
A Palm Beach County judge sentenced 32-year-old Roger Rodriguez on Monday after a jury convicted him of first-degree murder with a firearm, attempted murder, armed burglary, and multiple counts of armed robbery and armed kidnapping.
Authorities say Rodriguez was one of several men who robbed the Three Amigos check-cashing store in 2007. As the group was fleeing, the men fired shots at the store's owner, who was chasing them in his own vehicle. The shots missed the store owner but hit and killed a bystander.
Two of Rodriguez's co-defendants have already been tried, while two others await trial.
