A third suspect was arrested on Wednesday for burglary and booked into the Juvenile Assessment Center in connection with the West Palm Beach break-in where former police dog Drake was shot and fatally wounded.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office states that the suspect is a 17-year-old black male, but has not yet named him.
The previous suspects, 16-year-old Ivins Rosier and 19-year-old Gilson Gilles, are facing charges of burglary of a dwelling with a firearm, felony cruelty to animals with a firearm, and shooting into a building. If found guilty they could serve life in prison.
They are accused of breaking into a Florida Highway Patrol trooper's house in West Palm Beach and shooting a retired K-9 officer. The dog, Drake, suffered multiple gunshot wounds and died a few days later.
On Sunday, November 18, 2012, as the suspects attempted to enter the trooper's home, they shot through a sliding glass door, striking Drake numerous times.
Once inside they encountered Drake again and shot him again, leaving him for dead.
