WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) -- A self-confessed drug dealer has been sentenced to life in prison for killing a South Florida man he owed $10,000.

A Palm Beach County judge sentenced 31-year-old Jose Alfaro on Friday. He was convicted in November of second-degree murder.

Authorities say Alfaro shot 45-year-old Stephen Febonio in the back of the head in August 2007. Alfaro put Febonio's body in a freezer and buried it in the backyard of a Delray Beach home. The body was found in March 2009.

Prosecutors say Alfaro owed Febonio $10,000 for construction work he had done. Febonio threatened to tell authorities about Alfaro's marijuana growing business if Alfaro didn't pay Febonio.

Alfaro testified at his trial that another man actually killed Febonio when Febonio tried to rob him.
