Homecoming for local sailor returning from Afgahnistan

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - For six months the Rivera family has not been complete. Husband and Father Daniel Rivera has been serving as a 2nd class petty officer in Afghanistan.

On Wednesday, the Rivera family came together to welcome their sailor home.

Wife, Helen Rivera says although they have been in close contact via skype it is nice to know that Daniel is home safe.

While serving Daniel worked as computer network manager for the U.S. Navy. "I learned a lot and got a lot of experience out of this," Daniel explains.

2 year old Max Rivera has not seen his father in person since April. Daniel says he has a lot of catching up to do.

"He is probably saying who is this strange guy holding me? I thought he was only 2 dimensional."
