SUBURBAN WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - HAVERHILL — Authorities have identified 20-year-old Dexter Day, of Haverhill, as the man who was struck and killed after apparently running in front of an oncoming car this morning.

In a report released this morning, Palm Beach County Sheriff's investigators said that around 4:45 a.m., Day was struck and then run over twice by two additional vehicles on Belvedere Road.

Sheriff's Traffic Homicide investigators have determined that Day " intentionally caused his own death," the report stated. But investigators are not characterizing the accident, which took place a mere two blocks east of Day's home near the corner of Belvedere and Palmetto roads, as a suicide.

Day was flown to St. Mary's Medical Center where he was pronounced dead, said Teri Barbera, spokeswoman for the sheriff's office.

There was some confusion this morning, as investigators tried to determine how many cars were involved in the accident.

So far, investigators have identified 27-year-old Mac Pierre, of suburban West Palm Beach, as the driver of the car that Day walked in front of. Seaira Lee Williams, 26, of Greenacres, was also identified as the driver of one of the cars that ran over Day. The driver of a third vehicle that ran over Day remains unidentified because the driver fled the scene, according to the report.

Though Belvedere Road was initially shutdown in both directions, the flow of traffic was restored around 8 a.m., after a Pierre's car was towed away.

Staff photographer Lannis Waters contributed to this report.
