Gov. Rick Scott addresses Forum Club of the Palm Beaches at Kravis Center Friday

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - Governor Rick Scott addressed a number of issues at a speech in West Palm Beach Friday.

He spoke to the Forum Club in the Cohen Pavilion at the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts during a noon luncheon.

It was a fairly short speech but governor Scott was bullish on his first year in office and on Florida's future.

From preserving the Everglades -- to privatizing the state's prisons -- to bringing more businesses to Florida --Scott pushed hard on the state's direction -- saying it was on the right track -- but more work was ahead.

What is now an annual appearance before the Forum Club of the Palm Beaches came as the governor called on state lawmakers to spend another billion dollars on education.
    
It comes a year after he cut nearly as much from the state's budget, More savings he says are possible if Florida can cut tens of millions of dollars on auto insurance fraud.
   
While he was inside several people who disagree with the governor's policies demonstrated outside.

Governor Scott told the crowd of nearly 700 people who attended his speech that he would run for reelection at the end of his term.
