WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - Krystal Black was hit by a stray bullet during the drive-by shooting, which happened last Thursday on Windsor Avenue in West Palm Beach.
Her mother, Tawana Smith-Black, tells us the bullet went in her mouth and exited through her cheek.
Smith-Black says Krystal had to undergo reconstructive surgery. She says the bullet broke the little girl's jaw and shredded her gums. The bullet came through a window, so it caused pieces of glass to pierce her face as well.
Despite the circumstances, Smith-Black says she forgives the gunman, but she will never forget what happened. She says, "I don't want them to die. I want to see them in jail. I want them to live everyday of their lives thinking about the consequences that this tragedy and their actions have caused on my daughter. She will forever be affected by this for the rest of her life."
Police say they're still looking for the two men behind the shooting. If you know anything about it, you're urged to call the West Palm Beach Police Department. You can remain anonymous.
