WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - Marilyn Lanni should not be at Palm Beach International Airport right now.

"My daughter, who lives in Rhode Island, is having a lot of family in, and I'm going to help them celebrate," she said.

When Lanni left Palm City Wednesday morning, she expected to be on her way to Providence before  2 p.m. But fog in Chicago muddled her travel plans through Southwest Airlines.

A customer service representative for the airline said the delay affected almost 80 passengers.

"The flight was delayed until five something, and I would miss my connection to Tampa, so this has worked out well," Lanni said.

She got a new, 6:50 p.m. ticket on a Southwest Airlines plane. She says the wait was well worth it.

She'll be at her daughter's a week, and her plans are flexible.

"A lot of hugging and kissing the family. That's for sure, and I'm going to go with the flow," said Lanni, which is just what she's doing now.
