WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - A fire forced the evacuation Sunday morning of a Salvation Army building in West Palm Beach.

The fire started in the kitchen of the Army’s building at 2122 Palm Beach Lakes Boulevard, said Allan Ortman, spokesman for the city's fire department.

The fire was quickly contained and patrons were allowed to return, Ortman said. However, the kitchen and air conditioning system suffered moderate damage.

No one was hurt in the fire, which started around 11:33 a.m. and by the afternoon patrons had been allowed to return back into the building.

The cause of the fire is unknown, Ortman said.

The fire is under investigation.
