WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - UPDATE: Traffic is now open in the area
EARLIER STORY:
Authorities have shut down two southbound lanes of Military Trail at Elmhurst Road, following a fatal accident that involves two vehicles in suburban West Palm Beach.
Teri Barbera, spokeswoman for the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office, said one person died and two others were taken to St. Mary's Medical Center.
Both the Sheriff's Office and Palm Beach County Fire Rescue responded to the accident, which took place shortly before 6 a.m.
A witness says that a silver Mustang ran a red light and struck a Mitsubishi Galant, Barbera said.
Sgt. John Churchill, of the PBSO traffic homicide unit, said the man in the Galant died. The condition of the other two people who were taken to the hospital is unknown.
Churchill said investigators are still working on determining who had the right of way.
The aftermath of lays in the southwest corner of Elmhurst Road and Military Trail. As a result, authorities have also closed Elmhurst Road between
Military Trial and Donnell Road.
