WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - Fallen soldier, PFC Michael Metcalf arrived at Palm Beach International Airport Wednesday morning. A water cannon salute by the Fire Department greeted the plane carrying Metcalf's body.
Family and friends watched as the honor guard carried Metcalf's casket into a Huey helicopter that flew in the Vietnam War. The helicopter was loaded onto a trailer, to carry Metcalf to a funeral home in Boca Raton.
Metcalf's mother says she is in awe of the turnout to support her son.
"I know he has some peace over me, because I know I'm not this strong alone. All his friends are here and this makes me happy to see all this for him, to see how much he was loved," says Kim Metcalf.
His funeral is Friday at the Glick Family Funeral home in Boca Raton. A service will be held Saturday at the First Baptist Church of Boynton Beach. Metcalf will be buried at Arlington National Cemetery.
