WEST PALM BEACH, Fla -- Firefighters rescued a dog Friday evening from a mobile home fire that left a West Palm Beach family of eight homeless, according to Capt. Albert Borroto, spokesman for Palm Beach Fire Rescue.

The dog was inside the burning structure when fire crews arrived around 6:30 p.m. and was rescued, Borroto said. The five children and three adults were already out of the house and were not injured, he said.

The fire was contained to the mobile home at 4090 Hibiscus Circle. Nearby homes were not affected by the fire, Borroto said.

The Red Cross is assisting the family with food, clothing and shelter, Borroto said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
