SUBURBAN WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -- A Winter Haven man is dead after a crash this morning near the turnpike exit ramps at Beeline Highway in suburban West Palm Beach.
Florida Highway Patrol reports Jeffrey A. Phillips, 45, was on the State Road 91 exit ramp around 3 a.m. when he left the roadway onto the right shoulder, overturned and struck a guardrail.
Phillips, who was driving a 2006 Volvo tractor trailer with a Fed-Ex logo, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Both the northbound and southbound exit ramps have re-opened after being closed for several hours this morning, according to FHP.
Rescue crews have been working this morning to pull the truck’s trailer from the swamp waters near the ramp.
FHP is investigating whether alcohol was involved in this crash.
