JUPITER, Fla. - The left southbound lane and all northbound lanes of Florida's Turnpike in Jupiter have been reopened following a car wreck this afternoon, a Florida Highway Patrol spokesman confirmed.

Highway patrol troopers were dispatched around 12:50 p.m. to the southbound lanes of the turnpike near mile marker 117 in response to a car accident.

An Isuzu Rodeo veered off the road into the shoulder and overturned, said FHP spokesman Lt. Tim Frith.

The SUV was stopped by a barrier cable and landed on its side, he said.

The southbound and northbound lanes were closed for about a half of an hour while a Trauma Hawk landed on the roadway.

Two people were flown to St. Mary's Medical Center with serious, but not life-threatening, injuries.

At least one of the crash victims is a woman, Frith said.

The Rodeo is registered to a Stuart man in his 60s. Frith did not know if the man was in the car at the time of the crash.
