The city said it needed 2,000 new hotel rooms to keep pace with cities of comparable size.
Mayor Jeri Muoio told WPTV NewsChannel 5 a new hotel would be a boon for residents because it would increase tax revenues and allow the City to expand services.
In addition to the old City Hall site, any new construction would also include the site o the former Helen Wilkes Hotel.
The City is expected to select a proposal as early as December.
