WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - City Commissioners have formally appointed Vincent Demasi as Chief of Police of the West Palm Beach Department.

Demasi, 55, recently retired from the Cincinnati Police Department.

He spent the past eight years as an assistant chief.

He joined the department in 1982.

Demasi beat out two acting co-chiefs and fills an eight-month vacancy created the retirement of Delsa Bush in October.

On Monday, Demasi said he would be active inĀ  the community and work to be transparent.

His first day as chief is August 13th.
