WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -

A Palm Beach County teenager will be tried as an adult for attempted murder charges.

16-year-old Brian Maiale made his first court appearance Thursday morning.

Police say he joined three others in shooting, beating and trying to kidnap 18 year old Julian Thorpe at a North J Street house in Lake Worth.

Arrest records show Maiale and his friends thought Thorpe robbed another friend's house last month.

Thorpe was able to escape after being shot 3 times and stabbed in the chest.

No bond was set for Maiale.
