SUBURBAN WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -- The body of a man was found in a drainage canal Friday morning in suburban West Palm Beach.

He was discovered around 7:45 a.m. west of Military Trail and Vilma Lane.

Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office deputies and fire rescue crews were called to the scene shortly after that.

Investigators suspect the man had been drinking and lost his balance near the embankment. They say it appears he struck his head against a big rock and that likely knocked him unconscious.

The still unidentified man was fully clothed and there were no visible signs of foul play.

There was no identification on the victim. PBSO says he appears to be Hispanic.

An autopsy will determine the exact cause of death.
