WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - For Arthur Benjamin, dogs really are a man's, and a woman's best friend.

"It's an incredible bond. There's no other unconditional love that comes to us as human beings, other than that of a dog," said Benjamin.

After the death of a friend in Vietnam, Benjamin witnessed the power a dog's love can have for grieving families.

"His dog came home to his family, it touched me greatly. Just bringing home the sense of something that was related to their child...something that was that close, has made it easier for them," said Benjamin.

With two business partners, Benjamin started American Dog Rescue. The organization is dedicated to bringing home these "dogs of war," and reuniting the canines with their returned warriors in a land of peace.

"To be able to return that animal to live with them once they're back, it's an incredible opportunity to make a difference," said Benjamin.

Previous efforts brought home only one dog at a time, but later this week, 14 dogs and one cat will be touching down at JFK International Airport in New York.

"We're going to have a little event there. Soldiers, marines, and seamen are coming from all over the country to meet their dogs and take them home," said Benjamin.
