A memorial service for ten-year-old Alexandra Brooks was held Wednesday at The King's Academy where the girl was a fourth grade student.
"The family took it with tears and with sobs and with laughter and feeling comforted by everyone that was here," family friend Joe Considine said.
In the service, Alex's best friend sang and her teachers shared memories.
"Her art teacher sang a beautiful song and told a great story of a vision she had of Alex getting on the back of a horse with Jesus riding the horse. It was very comforting and very beautiful," Considine said.
Alex and her mother Pamela were found dead in their West Palm Beach home on Thursday.
Police said they suffered injuries from a knife, but did not release a cause of death. They did say they are not looking for a suspect.
WPTV spoke with Pamela Brooks' mother on Wednesday.
"I'm sick of the one sided reporting. She was a wonderful mother," Evelyn Hewson, Pamela's mother, told WPTV.
The State Attorney's Office said Wednesday that they are assisting with the investigation, which is standard.
A sign on the school says ‘Remembering Alex Brooks. One way the school will do that is with a memorial scholarship that has been set up.
Donations can be made on the school’s website .
