PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla. - WEST PALM BEACH, Fla – The man accused of killing a woman in Delray Beach and then stuffing her body in a barrel made his first appearance before a judge Wednesday morning, two days after Delray Beach Police arrested him.

David Muringer, who is 40 years old, refused to come for his first appearance yesterday; however, the judge ordered him to appear today.

Muringer is charged with negligent manslaughter in the death of 48 year old Doris Lopez and unlawfully disposing of her remains in October.

The judge set Muringer’s bond at a total of $150,000. Bond was $100,000 for the first charge and $50,000 for the second charge.

Muringer told police he had been dating Lopez, but that a drug dealer or overdose must have killed her.

According to police, he finally confessed that Lopez died after he strangled her during sex.

Police said he wrapped her body in plastic, placed it in a barrel next to her car.

Officers discovered her car and her body behind a pizza shop in Delray Beach on October 26. They were tipped off to Muringer after they found a phone receipt with his name on it in Lopez’s car.
