WEST PALM BEACH,FL--A local firefighter says the key to helping Haiti, lies in strengthening its most important resource- -people.

Lieutenant Nate Lasseur spent the overnight hours packing supplies, and care packages for firefighters in haiti.

All for the non-profit organization International Firefighters Assistance.  Their goal is to aid and train rescue workers, so they're equipped to care for others.

"These guys they work everyday, they work taking care of their neighbors and their city and at the end of the day they have to sleep under a tree.  So, we decided to bring some aid to them," said Lasseur.

Lasseur and his team will leave for Haiti on Friday.  He says the group is always looking for more volunteers and supplies.  To find out how you can help, visit the IFA website
