PALM CITY, Fla. - The relatives of a Chattanooga, Tennessee, family killed in a wrong-way crash in Palm City said it still struggled to make sense of the accident that killed four of its relatives, including two children.

"It's awful," a relative said. "We put it in God's hands. There's nothing we can do. They're in God's hands."

According to Claude Brewer, the father of one of the victims, Demetrius Suggs had picked up his daughter, Raineisha Powell, from her mother's home in Miami so she could spend the summer with him in Tennessee.

Around 2:20 a.m. on Sunday, a spokesperson for the Florida Highway Patrol said, a driver going the wrong way on Interstate 95 hit Suggs's pick-up truck head-on.

Powell, 9, Suggs, his wife, Porscha, and Mercedes Davis, 7, her daughter, were killed.

Carolyn Ramos of Port St. Lucie, the accused wrong-way driver, survived.

"It's very hard," Brewer said. "Today is his birthday. He [would have been] 30 years old today. He was a good person. [I'm] going to miss them. All of them."

The Florida Highway Patrol said its investigation continued.
