WELLINGTON, Fla. - A Wellington woman was arrested on Wednesday after she was accused of kicking her teenage son's puppy and later punching her son.
Dana Kaufman, 42, is being held at the Palm Beach County Jail without bond, according to jail records. She is facing child abuse charges.
Kaufman was arrested after her boyfriend called the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office to report that she had "assaulted her son" and had since fled the house. The responding deputy arrived at 7:35 p.m. and was told that by the 16-year-old boy that Kaufman had kicked his puppy earlier in the day because he was moving "too slow while getting ready for school," according to the arrest report.
The boy added that while protecting his puppy, he pushed Kaufman to the ground. He said that Kaufman's boyfriend then took him to school.
Later that day when the boy returned from school, Kaufman began throwing clothes for no reason. When the boy began recording her actions with his cell phone, Kaufman charged at him and punched him in the face several times, according to the report.
During a conversation with the investigating deputy, Kaufman said her son had pushed her to the ground and kicked her in the ribs. No injuries or bruises were found on her body by fire rescue personnel, the deputy said in the report, adding that she had an "odor of alcohol."
