WELLINGTON, Fla. -- Bond was set at $500,000 Friday morning for a Wellington middle school principal arrested on charges of child exploitation and traveling to meet a 15-year-old boy for sex.
Polo Park Middle School principal Scott A. Blake was arrested Thursday evening on charges of one count of online solicitation of a minor and one count of traveling to meet a minor to commit an unlawful act, according to a probable cause affidavit. Each count holds a $250,000 bond.
Blake was also placed house arrest, and ordered to have no contact with minors.
According to the affidavit, around 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Blake drove to Boynton Beach for the purpose of meeting with a boy.
Police say Blake drove around the parking lot of a meeting place for about 10 to 15 minutes before police stopped him. His school board identification was on the driver’s seat of his car when he was arrested, police said.
According to police, during a chat on two social networks with an undercover agent, Scott said he was afraid that he would get arrested and wanted to be sure the boy he was talking to was not law enforcement.
Blake sent the agent pictures of himself, believing that he was sending them to a minor, the affidavit said.
He suggested that he would drive by the boy on the street to make sure it was really a boy, according to the affidavit.
