WELLINGTON, Fla. - A Wellington mother is pleading for your help to find the driver who struck and killed her son DeAndre Binns, 6, last week in Broward County.
Binns darted into the street on Miramar Parkway near 62nd Avenue last Wednesday after his family left the McDonald's restaurant. The car that struck him didn't stop.
"Please, please, please anyone out there with information tell someone, we need closure," says Monique Batchelor, DeAndre's mother.
"After the child was struck he went onto the hood and the vehicle swerved several times trying to dislodge the child and then ran him over in an attempt to flee the scene," says traffic investigator Seth Schaller, with the Miramar Police Department.
Police released the photo of a vehicle of interest. It's a white, four-door car missing a right hubcap.
Family members built a memorial near where DeAndre was killed. It's made up of flowers and some of his favorite stuffed animals.
The family moved to Wellington last year, although DeAndre was still attending school in Coral Springs.
Anyone with information that could lead to an arrest is urged to call Broward County Crime Stoppers at (954)493-TIPS.
