WELLINGTON, Fla. - A woman hired to house sit in Wellington in now sitting in a cell at the Palm Beach County Jail.
Barbara Algermissen, according to her arrest report, was hired as a house/pet sitter for a couple who were out of town during parts of July, August and September.
The couple told investigators from the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office that when they returned this month they noticed $26,000 worth of jewelry was missing from the house.
Investigators say that on three occasions Algermissen pawned the couple's stolen property.
Algermissen told deputies that she had received $1,500 for the sale of the victims' property.
PBSO charged Algermissen with grand theft and dealing in stolen property and she was booked in the Palm Beach County Jail.
