About 50 to 60 people were injured Saturday when a driver described by witnesses as an elderly man drove his car into a group of hikers marching in a parade in a small Virginia mountain town.

JUPITER - Five people were injured, two severely, in a two-vehicle crash in Jupiter Friday evening, said Lee Forshner, spokesman for Palm Beach Fire Rescue.

The two seriously injured persons were taken to St. Mary's Medical Center. Three other victims were taken to area hospitals. There is no word on the extent of their injuries, but Forshner said they were not seriously injured.

The accident happened around 7:44 p.m. at 777 N. US Highway 1 in Jupiter.

There is no other information available at this time.
