JUNO BEACH, Fla. - Juno Beach-based Loggerhead Marinelife Center has canceled TurtleFest 2012 because of the potential for severe weather in our area on Saturday.

"After consulting with some of LMC's weather partners, it is with a heavy heart that we must cancel the event in the interest of everyone's safety. Thank you for your understanding and support," said Tom Longo, director of communications for the center.

Longo said that TurtleFest is the largest community event held by the center.

There is no word on whether the event will be rescheduled.

The Loggerhead Marinelife Center is dedicated to promoting the conservation of Florida's coastal ecosystems with a special focus on threatened and endangered sea turtles.
