A stolen Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office vehicle crashed into a taxi cab late Friday night at the intersection of Sansbury's Way and Southern Boulevard in West Palm Beach.
Jason Amstutz, 30, of Vero Beach, is charged with five counts: grand theft auto, DUI, resisting arrest without violence, fleeing and alluding and reckless driving.
Around 11:45 last night, two deputies were directing traffic after the Dave Matthews Band concert near the South Florida Fairgrounds.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office says one of the deputies left the door to his unmarked Chevy Tahoe open.
A Sheriff's Office spokesman says Amstutz jumped in, turned on the lights and blared the sirens. The spokesman says he drove eastbound down the westbound lanes of Southern Boulevard, sideswiping eight vehicles and crashing into a cab. The tires blew out and windows shattered.
The stolen vehicle finally came to a stop in the parking lot of Dick's Sporting Goods.
Amstutz was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail around 5:30 Saturday morning.
