ROYAL PALM BEACH, Fla. - A Royal Palm Beach family was displaced Saturday afternoon after their two-story apartment caught fire.
Fire crews responded to a call of dark smoke billowing from a home at 1705 Lakeview Drive. Upon arrival they found fire in a second-floor bedroom, said Albert Borroto, spokesman for Palm Beach County Fire Rescue.
Thermal-imaging cameras revealed the fire had spread to the closet and ceiling, Borroto said.
Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire and prevented it from spreading to adjacent apartments, he said.
No one was injured in the fire and the residents told fire crews they would be staying with friends.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
