Tropical Storm Isaac: Florida Power and Light activates emergency response plan

Florida Power and Light is in storm mode.

The utility company activated its emergency response plan, meaning there are nearly 8,000 employees ready to react.

FPL covers 35 counties across the state.

Once the storm has cleared, crews will respond to any outages reported.

The company has set up a dozen staging areas throughout its coverage area, with crews waiting at those locations.

To be prepared in case you suffer an outage, the power company suggests keeping a battery operated radio nearby so you can stay updated with any local news or information.
