RIVIERA BEACH, Fla. (AP) -- A Palm Beach County man is on life support after he fell and hit his head after police shot him with a stun gun while he was running from them.
The Palm Beach Post ( http://bit.ly/151Fp2y ) reports 43-year-old sex offender Tony Brown was in custody at the police station on March 30. When officers removed his handcuffs, he broke free and fled to the back parking lot.
As he climbed an 8-foot barbed-wire fence, an officer shot him with a Taser. When the 50,000 volts of electricity hit him, Brown fell and struck his head.
He was taken to the hospital where he was placed on life support.
Brown was convicted of lewd and lascivious conduct with a child under 16 in Okeechobee County in 2005.
