OFF RIVIERA BEACH, Fla. - Chopper 5 captured an amazing sight off of Singer Island Monday morning.

A multitude of stingrays were seen in a very large grouping.

According to National Geographic stingrays spend the majority of their time inactive, partially buried in sand, often moving only with the sway of the tide.

That's what makes the scene of a large number of them floating on top of the water somewhat unusual.

Stingrays are normally docile around swimmers and snorkelers. However, they have a poisonous barb that can cause death and is used in self-defense.
