RIVIERA BEACH, Fla. - A 12-year-old girl is in very serious condition, possibly life-threatening, after being shot this evening while walking down the street, a city police spokeswoman said.
Shortly before 6 p.m., the girl was walking along the 1200 block of West 28th Street when a fight among a group of teens broke out, spokeswoman Rose Anne Brown said.
Shots were fired, and the girl was then struck. She ran to the parking lot of the Hilltop Baptist Church where she collapsed.
Brown said the girl, who has not been identified, was not believed to have been part of the group of teens. No arrests have been made.
