RIVIERA BEACH, Fla. - Riviera Beach is ringing in the new year with a push against gun violence.
Members of the Mayors Against Illegal Guns Coalition, and religious leaders held at rally at the Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church.
Their goal is to lean on President Barack Obama and Congress to pass an assault weapons ban.
Riviera Beach Mayor Thomas Masters says he was inspired to make a public push for the ban after attending funerals for the children killed in December's school shooting in Newtown, Connecticut.
