RIVIERA BEACH, Fla. - Police arrested a Riviera Beach man on Thursday after he allegedly chased his wife with a machete during an argument.
Lawrence Rolle, 53, is being held at the Palm Beach County Jail in lieu of $5,000 bond. He is charged with false imprisonment, aggravated assault and battery.
Rolle was arrested by Riviera Beach police after a witness called to report a domestic incident at 10:35 p.m. on Thursday. When the officer arrived at Rolle's home in the 1300 block of Avenue T, the witness said to "hurry up" because Rolle had a machete and was "beating her up," the arrest report stated.
Rolle's 43-year-old wife ran to the door when the officer knocked, and explained that the fight began when her husband, Rolle, accused her of cheating.
At some point, the woman managed to get outside, but Rolle caught up with her and got into a physical fight. He then walked to the back, grabbed a machete and returned saying "I'm going to chop you up" to his wife, according to the report.
Rolle chased her back inside, where the fighting continued.
When Rolle was questioned by police, he kept telling the officer that he was "arguing with my wife; that's none of ya'll business."
The officer noted in the report that Rolle smelled of alcohol.
