An officer has been involved in a shooting, according to Riviera Beach police.
West Palm Beach police are looking for two or three people who fled in what is believed to be a gold-colored vehicle.
Riviera Beach Police say an officer had reason to believe the vehicle was suspicious. While no crimes were believed to have been committed in Riviera Beach by the people in the vehicle, the officer attempted to make a traffic stop, then followed the car to West Palm Beach. The traffic stop ended on the 5300 block of Greenwood Avenue, near St. Mary's Medical Center.
Authorities say the officer fired at the vehicle but the people fled the scene.
West Palm Beach police are continuing the investigation, as they review the dispatch tape and possibly a dash camera video.
The officer who fired the gun has not yet spoken with investigators and they are currently on paid administrative leave according to Riviera Beach Police, which is standard procedure.
The State Attorney's Office is now involved in the investigation, as is customary when there is an officer-involved shooting.
