RIVIERA BEACH, Fla. - A 17-year-old swimmer drowned this evening, according to Rose Anne Brown, spokeswoman for Riviera Beach.
The teenager was swimming at Ocean Reef Park with his friends when he was overcome by a wave at 5:00 p.m.
Officials said he was in the an area where a sign warned swimmers not to enter the water.
Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office, Riviera Beach Police & Coast Guard assisted in the search.
The teen's body was recovered an hour after he went missing.
He has not yet been identified.
