RIVIERA BEACH, Fla.-- Riviera Beach Police have arrested a suspect in connection with the deadly weekend "Sweet 16" birthday party shooting at Newcomb Hall and released the names of the victims.

Riviera Beach Mayor Thomas Masters says his granddaughter may have been dating the suspect.

Riviera Beach PR Manager William Jiles identified the suspect as 20-year-old Rijkard Jean-Baptiste, who was arrested at his Lake Park home at 806 8th Street.

He was taken to the Palm Beach County Jail where he was booked on first-degree murder and 2nd degree murder charges.

The names of the shooting victims were released on Thursday. Those killed were Antonio Hinds, 17, and Andy Black, 16.

The five injured are Slater Griffin, 32, Jashua Chenet, 18, and three minors who WPTV is not naming.

Jean-Baptist was in a wheelchair at his first appearance Thursday where a judge denied setting bond.  A probable cause affidavit says Jean-Baptiste claims he was shot in the leg, and once on the ground, pulled a gun from his pocket and shot back.

Jiles says no other arrests have been made.

The shooting left two people dead and six others wounded.

The probable cause affidavit says police are looking at video obtained from a videographer who was shooting video during the party.

Masters said Jean-Baptiste is "supposedly a young man that she (Master's granddaughter) has been dating."

Masters, a Baptist bishop, has been advocating for increased assistance from the community in stopping local violence.

"Guns and children don't mix," he said.

Masters says he is following his faith, asking God to use him to help stop violence.

"I just want to continue to pray for my granddaughter.  I know it will be tough for her and anyone else with connections to those involved, or allegedly involved, in the shooting," he said.

Jose Lambiet's Gossip Extra was the first to report the connection between Jean-Baptiste and Mayor Thomas Masters' granddaughter.
