RIVIERA BEACH, Fla. – Riviera Beach police are searching for a man who they said opened fire on a police officer Friday evening.

Authorities temporarily set up a perimeter around the area of West 9 th Street, said Rose Anne Brown, spokeswoman for Riviera Beach Police Department.

The incident happened around 8:45 p.m. in the 1600 block of West 9 th Street after a traffic stop. Police say the driver got out of the car, began to run, then shot at the officer.

The police officer was not injured.
