OFF SINGER ISLAND, Fla. - Parents often say 'don't play with your food.' But that apparently doesn't apply to dolphins.
Chopper 5 recorded a family of dolphins frolicking off of Palm Beach County Wednesday morning.
They were swimming and splashing about a quarter-of-a-mile offshore the north end of Singer Island.
They were chasing smaller fish and seemed to be playing with them before enjoying a midday snack.
Although the state of Florida used the term porpoise and dolphin interchangeably when it adopted the official state saltwater mammal, they are in fact different.
As the University of Florida Extension Service points out, there are no true porpoises found in Florida waters.
