LAKE PARK, Fla. - Steve Jobs was a pioneer in home computing, and redefined the concept of the cell phone, but his influence spread to other businesses and people as well.
Take Chris Johncke for instance. He was an unemployed engineer who had a broken iPhone that nearly left him out of service.
"I figured I'd give it a shot and try to fix it myself. I sourced out some parts and fixed it myself," said Johncke.
It wasn't long before Johncke was getting repair requests from his friends.
"A light bulb went off in my head and I started advertising on craigslist. I started picking up clients, and before I knew it I was driving around for about 15 hours a day. A couple of my friends insisted that I open up a store because I was so busy," said Johncke.
Now, Johncke is the owner of "i Fix Your i," and with four stores open across the country, business is growing thanks to the trail blazed by Steve Jobs.
"If you're in the city, look at people walking around, they've got their heads buried in their phones with their earbuds in. It's pretty wild what it's done to society," said Johncke.
What it's done is inspire a legion of imitators, all promising the next iPhone killer. It's also created a niche industry for entrepreneurs like Johncke, who is now able to lay his claim to a slice of the Apple pie.
"Life goes on, unfortunately without Steve Jobs, but we base our business off of moving forward. Apple's going to move forward, we're going to move forward," said Johncke.
While the death of Jobs is certainly a blow to the industry, the companies involved with Apple's products are confidant his creative vision will continue to shape the future of Apple's technology.
"A lot of the stuff that Steve Jobs brought to the table was his ideas, and then he worked with his team to develop these ideas," said Johncke.
