LOXAHATCHEE, Fla. -- President Obama signed a disaster declaration late Thursday night, allowing federal financial assistance for areas of South Florida affected by Hurricane Isaac.

The declaration affects 11 counties, including Palm Beach, Martin and St. Lucie.

Federal aid money will supplement state and local efforts geared at fixing any facilities damaged in the storm or for any emergency work that had to be done.
